Julia's In The Garden

I know a lot of you know that Julia Child was a premier chef who wrote cook books and had a television show. Did you know that she had a rose named after her?

The Julia Child rose is a beautiful, strong yellow rose that is very hardy and disease resistant. I have mine in a pot (gophers!) right next to another rose. Julia is always shiny green, glossy and free of disease and insects. My other rose (whose name escapes me) is a mess of shriveled powdery mildew leaves and branches. Same area, same care. Obviously all roses are not created equal. So what am I going to do? Rip out the sickly rose and get another Julia!

After all, we can never have too much Julia Child in our lives.

Hello Jean, Julia sounds like a great rose bush. I have trouble with mildew on some of my roses too. I like the carefree ones that just flower and flower. I do not like to baby them and spray bugs. Take to much of my time. Have a nice weekend. sandi

Julia is beautiful, but is she fragrant? I want a rose that smells like a rose.

Hi Jean, I need help with my roses too. All the leaves are turning yellow and falling off...perhaps bugs of some type. I need your professional advice. HELP! PS: Love the Julia rose...it's gorgeous. Yvonne

Beautiful rose Miss Jean! I've never had luck with roses -- maybe I need to look into some of the more hardy varieties like Julia!

Julia is stunning! No wonder the rose namers named this harty and resilient rose after a woman who posses the same qualities! Now does it say "Bon Appetit." ??

love you,
bec

That is one beautiful rose! I have some English roses in my garden and they do pretty well with very little attention from me - I'm a bit of a haphazard gardener. I need to look into getting a Julia Child rose bush since yellow is my favorite color!
