I'm a Bad Plant Mommy!

Remember back in the 70's when we all had tons and tons of houseplants? This was one of my favorites, a Piggyback Plant. The botanical name is Tolmiea menziesii. I used to work in the retail nursery industry so botanical names are important to me, as are their care. You can see a picture of what they are supposed to look like here.

Oh, my goodness! Mine isn't looking very good. I forgot to water it. They have very fine leaves and dry out easily.

Drink up little fella!!! As soon as you look better I'll replant you into a bigger pot and take better care of you, I promise!

Do you still have lots of houseplants? What are your favorites?

I am so bad with living things! I DO take care of the kids, but I have NO living plants... inside or out! Good thing for the gardener! And for gardeners like you who make the world beautiful!

Oh Jean, you've brought back some lovely memories of the 70's and all those hanging plants. I had several piggy back plants...but haven't seen one in years. Boston ferns and spider plants too...and those hanging rope things we used to make...macromay(?)
I want to see an after picture posted of this little guy! Mumzie

I have two violets that have not bloomed in two years, but have beautiful green leaves. I have two Christmas cactus that bloom every Halloween.

I have had different ivys, that always die on me...I love green plants, but am not very good at taking care of them anymore.
Hugs,
Penny

OhMyGosh! And back in the 70s we hung them all from macrame hangers too! My VERY favorite macrame hanging plant was a ... Piggyback! OH how I loved that little plant and all it's little babies. It usually didn't take me long to kill them though, so I quite trying to grow many plants. I'm so impressed that you have a cute little piggyback -- thanks for the walk down memory lane!

If a person wants to kill a plant, just send it to me. I can kill even the most indestructible ones with my brown thumb!!
