Sleep - I need sleep!!!

For some reason, since we've moved both hubs and I have had terrible insomnia.  It's a little disconcerting to lay (lie?) in bed for hours with your mind racing a mile a minute. I can't tell you how many times I've been up when the neighbors are going to work.  I'll be up all night and finally get to sleep around 7:00 a.m. and then sleep until after noon.  This is not productive!  Plus if I don't get enough sleep I get headaches. Even though I can't sleep, I am still tired so getting any projects done is out of the question so all I can do is watch television.  Do you know how terrible television is in the middle of the night?  Good grief!

Our paper gets delivered between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m..  Many mornings I have it read and the puzzles done by 6:00 a.m..  I'm lucky it gets delivered right on our porch.  I had to call them a few times complaining of missing papers.  The last time I called I had to remind them that I was too old to be fishing a newspaper out from under a car in the driveway.  I was a little concerned what I would do once it started snowing.   ("Honey, that neighbor lady seems to be frozen under the car again!")  When I called, the customer service rep said, "would you like it delivered on to your porch?"  Duh!!!!!

I've tried lots of things.  No caffeine after noon.  Taking Melatonin.  Taking Tylenol P.M..  Even taking sleeping pills.  Nothing!

So, dear friends, HELP!!!!  Have you ever had this problem?  What have you done that has worked for you?  I need to get a life and I have things to do and this isn't helping matters any.

Off to a quilt show with hubs Saturday and hopefully Sunday we can go see the Incredible Molly Brown Museum, a Denver native of the Titanic "fame". *We've decided to wait until the 28th to go to the Museum.  Here in Denver they have once a month free admission to most every museum in town.   The Denver Art Museum, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, The Aquarium, The Molly Brown Museum and the Denver Botanical Garden to name a few.  How cool is that?

You all have a great weekend!

Welcome to my world, I sleep for a half hour and then up for 2 hours. I think it might be worse for you since you might have the altitude issue. A glass a milk and 2 ibu has helped some nights. I don't like to take ibu because you can have issues with your stomach. I have to be off the computer for 2 hours before I go to sleep and sometime no TV. I think too much at night that is my issue. I have tried music for sleeping, sometime it works and sometimes not.

Lavender Oil is suppose to help you relax enough to fall asleep. It sometimes works for me and sometimes doesn't. This oil can usually be purchased at a health food/co-op type store. Just a couple drops on a tissue (quilt batting works great) about a hr. before going to bed. Good luck cuz tossing and turning is not fun!

I have insomnia quite often. If I don't have to go to work it doesn't bother me, but I hate it when I'm working the next day. I can be up til 2 or 3 am and can't sleep after 7 or 8.

Sometimes music helps me.

Hope you find something that works for you soon.

Hi Jean,
I have the same problem every Sunday night, I can't sleep. I think there is just to much running thought my little old mind and when the fact that I have to get up at 2:30 am for work and I am scared I will over sleep the alarm and miss all my connections to the bay area. Sometimes I sing a song in my head or stay up and read until I fall asleep.
We purchased the fan in Oakdale at the lighting store.
Are you all set up in your new home?. I have two quilts all top stitched and ready now for binding. I have been sewing like a crazy girl..
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth

You poor thing! How frustrating. I'm no expert but it seems that you need to get back on a normal humans schedule! = ) Maybe set your alarm for 7am and get up - no matter how much sleep you have had - and start your day. Exercize a bit - take a walk, swim etc. Be outside in the sunshine. Don't eat after 6pm and go to bed at 9 or so. repeat. You'll be miserable for a few days but it sounds like you are anyway. = ) Sounds like you just have your days and nights mixed up.
