Maggie

Why is it that when you are younger, some things are easier but other things are easier when you get older? Take children for instance. I have way more patience with my grandsons now then I had with my two children. I was so set on making everything perfect back then. Now, my philosophy is, "Ice Cream is an ok breakfast food!" "Grandma, can I have something?" "Sure, what do you want?"

When we had our first Scottish Terrier, Marjorie, housebreaking her was a snap! We had some very good advise from a dog trainer and Marjorie was by nature a very docile and "wanting to please" little dog. Her entire life she was like that. Laid back, loving and just plain gooey sweet! Everybody loved our little Marjorie. Now, along comes Maggie! This is the Maggie that Becky called me about, "Oh, Jean, you have to come see her. She is soooooo sweet and calm and laid back." Yea, right! (Note: We are so happy she did!) Now, don't get me wrong. We love her to death. She is a beautiful puppy with the possibilities of being an exceptionally beautiful adult dog. I admit she is sweet. Calm? Laid back? I don't think so. She is a little stubborn pistol. A true pip squeak. If she is running around and you need to put her back in her crate or outside in her pen, good luck. She loves to play Catch Me If You Can, and she usually wins! We're having a much more difficult time with the housebreaking business. I can just imagine what our neighbors are thinking on those warm evenings when their windows are open and all of a sudden they hear a chorus of "Yea Maggie!!! You went poop and pee for Mommy and Daddy!!! Yea!!!" with the accompanying clapping, no less. I won't even get into the business of vet bills. Maggie has been twice for shots and today had an extra appointment for a skin rash that turned out to be just a "puppy rash" and nothing to worry about with the addition of antibiotics, "That'll be $67.00 please."
Wish us luck. This should be fun!

Little Miss Maggie Dear - Priceless!

*By the way, hop on over to Camille's web site. She doing a fantabulously wonderfulishious quilt give-away! Hurry, Hurry!!!

Awwwww, just look at that adorable little face!!! Our last dog was the puppy from hell -- it took 5 years before I learned to love her and she settled down. But learn to love her I did, and now I miss her terribly. I'm betting little Maggie will be the same way before too long -- woven right into your heart! xoxo

Ahhh, sounds like our experience with one of our Norwich terriors.. just took forever to house train him. All our previous dogs just 'got it' right off. Well, I still love him but man, he tested my patience.

She does have a little bit of an obstinate look about her!

But too cute to be mad at right??

Your puppy is so.. cute. Just llok at those eyes. She's wondering what she can get into next. lol I love puppies. But, training them does take a lot of work and love. Give her a hug. My Sammie still needs lots of pray with him recovery. I don't know what I'd do without Sammie & Brandie. xoxoxoTerrie

Yes, ain't she nice?! Now by comparison to Mr. Finnegan, she was very mellow - much moreso than he was!!! I think she is testing you cause when she is here, she is just so calm! ;) I love the picture of her!!! It really captures her demeanor and intellect! Little stinker! Give Miss Maggie tons of hugs and kisses and we will see her on Sunday!!

Ohhhhh how cute Miss Maggie looks...I can remember many a day standing in our yard early in the morning - late for work and saying, "Be a good dog, Muffin" "good dog" really meant "poop, please".

I have been thinking about getting another dog. It has been 7 years....
Hugs,
Penny

Laughing out loud here......did you not look into those eyes......?
Sheer joyful wickedness and strength of will and character.
Like sizing up Prep children at the start of a school year and knowing just which ones are going to need the extra training.
I can talk........I picked a 4 wk old kitten out of a litter at the vets...they told me later it was the boss cocky (Aust. slang for boss) of the litter. I had just had to put an 8 yr old darling down before she attacked someone and so was a soft touch...and so Miss Moggie came home......but I would not change her either.
Do have fun. The main reason I have a cat now, is my garden.

A Scottie! She is beautiful, and by the sounds of it, 100% Scottish Terrier. You just never see one on blogs, at least I don't seem to. We have a Scottie, Baxter. I had wanted one for what seemed like forever. Summer of 2005 that little gentleman became a wonderful life changing reality in this home. Did I mention how cute Maggie, is? Thanks for sharing her.
