On the way, we have to stop to buy batteries for my camera. Then I can start uploading my own pictures. Of course then you won't think my circle of friends is not quite as diverse as it really is!
On another subject, I need some expert advise. Someone (?) put damp newspapers on my oak bar stool. It now has a white blotchy "thing" going on. Short of taking it to a furniture refinisher, does anyone know how to fix it? Sweety and I would be ever so greatfull for your help.

Good luck on your blog. As for your bar stools I think I heard once that you can try toothpaste on a white cloth and rub that into it and that should take care of it. But I would try Googling it and see what comes up.
I'm with Chris, google to see how or go to DIY network to see if they offer a tip. OR, call an antique furniture restoration place to see if they have advice. I have used very, very fine steel wool on my wood, go with the grain and then sit the piece in the sun for a while. I also use Brie Wax to bring the luster of the wood back. good luck...

Hi Jean! I'm absolutely no help with the booboo, but I wanted to welcome you to the bloggie world. Lucky you to have met Miss Becky and The Doogster ~ he's a cutie pie!
hi, just checked your blog after going to De's....nice to see another California blogger! I live in inland Southern California..
you might try mayonnaise for the white spot...its worked many times for me for white spots, we have oak furniture that my husband made and two teen boys who are not very careful..just rub a little in with a paper towel and then rub it off..amazing!
Hi! Love the picture of Laura Bush with her Scottie.
I came by from Becky's blog. You're welcome to stop by my blog anytime. It's private but I will send you an invitation if you'd like to visit.
Enjoy blogging!
You don't list an email on your profile for me to invite you to my blog. If you care to come by it' Andi's Everyday Adventures and you can email me at andibrannon@tampabay.rr.com
and I will send you and invitation.
My brother and sister-in-law have a Scottie.
My grandaughter left a wet glass on my table and I, too, was left with the unsightly white ring. I sprayed it down with orange oil and let it sit for a few hours, wiped it down, then repeated the same process a few times. My spot may not have been as severe as yours, but this did the trick.
Hi there Miss Jean!
I found you from Becky's blog. I enjoyed my visit to your sweet little blog. Come by and visit me sometime.

and the white..it's the water in the ??sealer??
that caused it..
if you can fine fine steel wool it off..
tis about the only thing that will help..but you'll have to take ALL the sealant off.
Hope it helps..

Oh dear Miss Jean -- I've just found you and what a lovely blog you have! Just by the most bizarre coincidence, TheManoftheHouse e-mailed me a document today that contains furniture repair tips and while I don't remember what it said, I do remember that one of the ailments was white rings. It said if it's white, it's repairable as it's just moisture there, but if it's brown, there's permanent damage -- that much I do remember. If you e-mail me, I'll respond back and send the document to you. Welcome to blogland -- you've landed with a pretty pink bang!!!
